FAQ’s

  • How does moisture affect my hardwood flooring?

Moisture can cause many different problems for hardwood flooring, such as cracking, cupping, and crowning. Over time, excessive moisture will destroy a beautiful wood floor, so I suggested not to using excessive water to clean the hardwood floors and to clean up spills immediately.

  • What is the best way to clean my floors?

The best approach depends upon how the floor is finished: surface-sealed versus penetration-sealed. We recommend using Bona Free & Simple. Or using a product that dry’s quickly without a lot of residue. After our service, we will go over what brands and items we feel will work best for your floor.

  • Can I use commercial cleaner?

Any wood safe product is fine - from a environmentally safe mixture of vinegar water to your dry mop Swiffer. Yet, I recommend not using harsh commercial cleaners or wood wax, which can create a thick residue over time and trap dirt and debris in the seams of the planks.

  • Can I Steam Mop My Hardwood Floors

I would strongly AVOID using any kind of steam mop or any kind of mop where there is a prolonged amount of water as this will damage your floors.

  • Can Hardwood Be Installed in My Sunroom?

Hardwood floors can be installed in many locations, however rooms with a lot of sun, such as a sunroom or a dayroom, may cause damage due to the harsh UV rays. We recommend keeping your blinds or curtains slightly drawn during peak hours, to avoid prolonged sun exposure.

  • How Often Should I Refinish My Floors?

Refinishing depends on the wear and tear or if the wood is installed in a high-traffic area. On average most floors need refinishing every 7-10 years. Yet, we strongly suggest not waiting to long, to avoid a costly replacement. Or reaching to see if refinishing may not be needed but rather a maintenance coat.

  • Are Wood Floors Good For Pets?

Because wood flooring is easy to clean, maintain and long lasting, they are perfect for those who have pets. Yet, because some soft wood species are more susceptible to scratches, such as Pine, Spruce, Cedar or Fir, we recommend keeping your pets nails trimmed or purchase pet booties to avoid deeper scratch marks.
